Of all these quakes, the one occurring in Upstate New York will probably be the most devastating for Americans. It will be the most expensive natural disaster in the history of our country.
The most serious quake in other regions of the world will occur just outside of Lanzhou, in central China. It will cause the greatest loss of life.
There will be a major volcanic eruption in Washington State sometime between 2026 and 2030. While not as large as Mount St. Helens, it will cause more damage and loss of life. There will be significant volcanic action in the Hawaiian Islands between 2014 and 2023, resulting in the abandonment of a now-occupied island. Popocatepetl, just south of Mexico City, will erupt between 2029 and 2031. There will be significant damage from the initial blast, but not as great a loss of life as might be expected from being so close to such a large city.
And, of course, I have already talked about the birth of a new chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean between Japan and Hawaii in an earlier section.
Aside from the above, the following are also major eruption areas that will cook off in the next hundred years.
