Apples are a common feature in many detox diets and for good reason. They are particularly effective in removing impurities from the liver and, like carrots, are a good source of the antioxidant, beta-carotene.
2 medium apples, quartered, cored and cut into wedges
5 medium carrots, peeled and halved lengthways
2 large uncooked beetroot/beets, peeled and cut into wedges
juice of 1 small lemon
1–2 teaspoons wheatgrass powder (see page 18)
SERVES 2
Juice the apples, carrots and beetroot/beets then stir in the lemon juice and wheatgrass powder.
