A cross between a soup and a smoothie, this is a perfect meal substitute if following a detox plan. The sulphur compounds in garlic help to get rid of unwanted toxins as well as bacteria and parasites from the colon.
Put the carrots, red pepper, tomatoes, parsley, garlic, radish sprouts, flaxseeds, turmeric and lemon juice in a blender. Add 250 ml/1 cup pure or filtered water and the barleygrass powder and blend until smooth. Add a splash more water if too thick.
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 large red (bell) pepper, deseeded and chopped
2 good-size vine-ripened tomatoes, chopped
1 handful of flat-leaf parsley
2 small garlic cloves, peeled
1 handful of radish sprouts (see page 21)
2 teaspoons ground flaxseeds (see page 16)
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
juice of 1 lemon
1–2 teaspoons barleygrass powder (see page 14)
