Prunes lend a rich, sweetness to this drink, but their real claim to fame is their ability to prevent constipation and improve the intestinal flora of the digestive system. The cleansing prunes are further boosted by the kale, orange juice and spirulina.
10 ready-to-eat dried pitted prunes, halved
2 handfuls kale, tough stalks discarded, leaves shredded
1 small handful of alfalfa sprouts (see page 21)
300 ml/1¼ cups freshly squeezed orange juice
juice of ½ lemon
1–2 teaspoons spirulina (see page 18)

Put the prunes, kale, alfalfa, orange juice, lemon juice and spirulina in a blender with 100 ml/ ⅓ cup pure or filtered water, then blend until smooth. Add a splash more water if it is too thick.
