Reishi mushrooms, used here in a powdered form, help to regulate the immune system as well as improve the functioning of the organs in the body – and that’s just for starters. They are most effective when eaten in conjunction with a source of vitamin C, at the beginning of the day and on an empty stomach.
1 medium sweet potato, peeled and cut into long wedges
1 small raw beetroot/beet, peeled and cut into wedges
2 apples, quartered, cored and cut into wedges
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons reishi mushroom powder (see page 17)

Juice the sweet potato, beetroot/beet and apples, then stir in the lemon juice and reishi powder.
peaches Called the ‘longevity’ fruit in traditional Chinese medicine, the peach is an excellent source of the antioxidants beta carotene and vitamin C as well as the mineral potassium. A shortage of potassium has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease along with anxiety, fatigue, poor memory and muscle weakness.
