Strawberry and cinnamon lassi

This smoothie is luxuriously creamy with just a hint of rose. If your blender struggles with ice cubes, you can crush them in a bag using the end of a rolling pin, then add to the blender with the rest of the ingredients.

300 ml/1¼ cups plain bio yogurt

3 handfuls of strawberries, hulled

1 teaspoon rose flower water, or to taste

1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds (see page 16)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons manuka honey (see page 16)

probiotic powder (see page 18) (check the recommended dosage on the bottle)

8 ice cubes

bee pollen, for sprinkling (see page 15)

SERVES 2

Put the yogurt, strawberries, rose flower water, ground flaxseeds, cinnamon, honey, probiotic powder and ice cubes in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Serve sprinkled with bee pollen.

manuka honey Studies on manuka honey have revealed its potent antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antifungal properties, which are over and above that of regular honey. Look for an UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) of at least 10+ on the label for the most active health properties.

peaches Much of a peach’s vitamin C content lies within or just below the skin so it makes sense to eat the fruit unpeeled. Our own skin benefits from the high levels of this vitamin as well as beta carotene and a wide range of minerals.
