Girls are leading a lamb in the sacrificial procession.

They are serious: they lead it to its death.

Behind, their companions carry pitchers of water and wine on their shoulders.

Young men, covering their faces with pleated tunics, lead a bull. With head raised it bellows pitifully.

At one side a soldier, seen in profile and leading a horse by the bridle, closes the procession. What is striking is the animal’s nobility. Its eye. Its expression of concentration.
