OH MY GOSH, THIS FREAKING sucks! Amethyst managed to get some breakfast down past the waves of nausea. Two weeks living with Walter had been a complete adjustment, but she liked it.

“I must be getting sick,” Amethyst sighed and placed her head on the table. The cool wood helped calm her heated head. She took in a short breath of Walter’s scent and let it out of her mouth.

“Do you want to cancel with your parents?” Walter rubbed her back, bringing a small amount of relief to her uneasy stomach.

“No, we already canceled when I went into freaking heat.” She shoved her hands through her hair. Thanks to some magic her purple streaks weren’t fading anymore in her dark brown hair. He had offered to make her whole head purple, but she declined even though deep down she had always wanted to try it. It would be something to look forward to later on.

“But if you’re sick, how will you truly enjoy them being here.” Walter had a good point, but it had been too long since she had seen her parents in person. She shook her head and sighed.

“I’ll push through, just fingers crossed I don’t lose this lovely breakfast.” Amethyst glanced at the rest of the cinnamon roll and egg on her plate. Her nose scrunched up as the scents filled her nose. Her wolf rubbed against the barrier in a soothing manner.

“If something happens, I’ll be there.” Walter smiled and kissed her head.

“We should stop at the store and I’ll grab some ginger to help.” Amethyst stood and let her stomach settle before grabbing her bag. A small voice in the back of her head mentioned something about being pregnant but she didn’t listen. She and Walter were in a limbo place, not knowing if he actually knocked her up. They hadn’t spoken about it since she ended her heat.

Amethyst climbed into the pickup and Walter did the same, his scent brought a sense of peace into the truck helping to push back at the nausea. She didn’t like it but she dealt with it. They had planned on going for a walk after grabbing some coffee at the Ultra coffee shop. Walter parked next to her parent’s little blue car.

Cole pulled her out of the truck into a hug. She loved the affection her father always showed her, and she wondered what Walter might be like as a father. Damn it Amethyst, he said he didn’t want a kid.

“You still have the purple in your hair.” Cole shook his head and Amethyst giggled. Her father had never been a fan of the purple streaks.

“Shouldn’t have named me Amethyst then.” Amethyst shrugged her shoulder with a smile. “Walter, this is my momma and dad.”  They all shook hands and Tris wrapped her hand around Amethyst’s side while they walked into the coffee shop.

“Sugarplum, are you ok?” Tris’s soft blue eyes studied Amethyst.

“I’m fine, Momma, just a little nauseated.” Amethyst scrunched up her nose as they walked into the coffee shop. The aroma of coffee filled her lungs, half of her body wanted caffeine while the other half wanted to vomit. After the heat, Walter and Amethyst went into a comfortable place of don’t talk about the kids unless it is a for sure thing.

“Sugarplum, you seem pale,” Tris whispered into her ear. Amethyst swallowed hard and tried to calm her body down.

“Are you okay, honey?” Cole grabbed her hand, and she met his concerned blue gaze.

“I’m fine, but I think I’m going to skip the coffee today.” Amethyst gave them a small smile and walked back out toward the exit. Amethyst didn't get nauseated easily, she was so focused on getting outside she ran into a wall of muscle.

"Craptastic," Amethyst hissed and looked up to see her alpha holding Vivian in his arms. One of his eyebrows rose making her nervous for no reason.

"Amethyst, are you okay?" Maria moved to Derrick's side. Before Amethyst managed to say a word, she turned and vomited onto a plant. Sturdy hands held her upright while the room spun. Crap, crap!

"I've got you." Walter's strong voice filled her ear, and she thanked the stars above for him. He wrapped his arm around her waist and they fumbled outside. Her parents followed close by. Sweat caked her forehead, she used her sleeve to clear it off.

"I thought wolves didn't get sick," Tris hissed toward Cole. The door opened and closed while Walter rubbed her back.

"She’s not ill, ma'am. She's pregnant," Derrick spoke behind Amethyst. The urge to vomit again filled her stomach. She turned to look at Walter. Over the last few days, she had avoided the topic at all costs. His neutral face gave her nothing to how he felt about this piece of news.

"Congratulations," Tris shrilled with delight. Joy filled her mother’s gaze while concern contorted her father’s features.

"Wow, so soon?" Cole received an elbow on the gut from his wife at his comment. "I mean, kids are a blessing but are a lot of work." Just like her father to bring everyone a reality check.

"Yes, but this little one will have loads of love coming his or her way," Walter's words eased the tension in her stomach.

"Damn right. I can't wait to have a niece or nephew." Maria half hugged Amethyst with Owen bouncing in her arms. Her green eyes seemed ready to burst with tears of joy.

“Let’s give them a minute while we get coffee,” Derrick’s voice came into Amethyst’s mind but she kept her gaze on Walter. She swallowed hard.

“Do you really want this kid?” Amethyst let it out before it broke her in half. Deep down she knew if he answered negatively it would break her heart. Yet she couldn’t keep living in this limbo.

“Amethyst, you have changed me so much. I never saw myself as the good guy until you made it clear. Of course, I want our little one. I want a house full of kids if it’s what it takes to make you happy.” Walter’s words settled in and Amethyst felt the urge to cry but pushed it back.

“I love you, Walter,” Amethyst finally said the words driving her mad.

“Oh, Amethyst, I love you so much.” He pulled her into a gentle kiss while his arms wrapped around her body. “Nothing will pull us apart.”

After the break up with Collin, she thought men were all ass-hats but with Walter, she knew better. She managed to find a man who loved her. The bad brother gave her the thing she wanted even more than a child. Acceptance.
