Clothing

Welding would undoubtedly lead to having sparks fly everywhere, and no one wants their clothing to be on fire while they are working. You should avoid using synthetic shirts since they are not made for this type of work. Wearing this fabric can actually become quite dangerous for you once you start working.

Since the rays from the welding can cause sunburns on exposed skin, you should wear long sleeves shirts. There is a wide variety of clothing to choose from for your welding projects, but what you will wear also depends on the temperature of the work area.

Leather clothing is the safest choice of all, albeit being the warmest and therefore can be quite uncomfortable if you need to work for a prolonged period of time. Many welders often wear leather sleeves, a leather apron, and longer gauntlet gloves, or some sort of welding bib with an open back and long sleeves. Because cotton is not as flammable as synthetic materials, it is wise to wear a cotton shirt underneath your protective gear. It is worth mentioning that you should wear dark clothing to avoid UV rays, and you need your overall to be flameproof, just in case.
