Gauge

In pattern: 15 sts = 4 inches; 12 rnds = 4 inches (blocked)

Pattern Notes

This project is made with a bamboo/cotton blend which will grow dramatically in length and decrease in width when blocked. It may decrease in width up to 4 inches or more. The pattern is written to account for this growth. When blocking, smooth it lengthwise carefully to mimic the effects of gravity.

If you like, hang it up when it is almost dry to finish the drying process.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Technique Used

Double-Ended Tunisian Worked in the Round (see page 5)

Pullover

Note: Since Pullover is worked in the round, you will need to complete 2 or more “passes” of picking up lps in order to make it all the way around. The instructions state total number of sts for each round, but work is completed in sections in order to make it around (see page 5). Pulling up lps is always done with turquoise, and closing lps is always done with brilliant blues.

Body

Rnd 1:

A: With turquoise and double-ended hook, ch 120 [136, 150, 166, 180, 196], sk first ch, *insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through, leaving lp on hook, rep from * across (120 [136, 150, 166, 180, 196] lps on hook);

B: turn hook 180 degrees so back of work is facing, push lps to opposite end of hook, pull brilliant blues through 1 lp on hook, with brilliant blues, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] across until 1 lp rem on hook.

Note: When closing sts in 2 or more “passes,” always remember to leave last 3 or 4 sts on hook to maintain stability of lps.

Tips

When doing the reverse single crochet rounds, you could alternatively work the entire Yoke as round 4 only, then reattach yarn and work only the reverse single crochet of round 3 for last round.

When doing round 4, if you prefer, you can use a calculator to determine the skipped stitch positions. Using the strands of yarn as stitch markers helps so you won’t lose your place in the pattern, but using calculator calculations for the 13 skipped stitches of each round is perfectly acceptable.

Rnd 2:

A: Without twisting foundation ch, bring first st close to last st, [TFS (see Stitch Glossary on page 32), TSS2tog (see Stitch Glossary on page 32)] around;

Note: Place st marker in first st of rnd; move st marker up as work progresses.

B: turn hook 180 degrees, push lps to opposite end of hook, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] around.

Rnds 3–48 [3–52, 3–54, 3–56, 3–58, 3–60]: Rep rnd 2. At end of last rnd, fasten off brilliant blues.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. To block Pullover, completely immerse in cool water, squeeze gently to remove excess water, roll in dry towel to remove more excess water, lay flat, smoothing it out vertically which will lengthen it while reducing the width. Shape as necessary, allow to dry.
