Stu Campbell explains that this box requires two pieces of 2″×2″×10′ (to be cut into six pieces of 2″×2″×39″) plus twelve pieces of 1″×6″×8′ to be cut into twenty-four pieces, each 48″ long. The uprights are dug three inches into the ground and the sideboards are spaced a half-inch apart, to permit air circulation. The front boards, which slide in and out, make the work of filling and emptying the box much easier. We would recommend longer uprights, and more side pieces. Thus a higher pile could be built. It will soon settle back to three feet, even if the makings are piled five feet high originally.
