Born in Philadelphia, Willard Sterne Randall is the author of thirteen books, including six biographies, and a former investigative reporter who won the National Magazine Award for Public Service from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
After graduate studies in history at Princeton University, Randall turned to writing biographies. He has written award-winning books about Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Benedict Arnold. His Benedict Arnold: Patriot and Traitor was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was a Notable Book of the New York Times. The American Revolution Round Table conferred its highest honor, the Award of Merit, on Randall. Randall has appeared on the Today Show, NBC’s “One on One,” C-Span, PBS, and the History Channel. A contributing editor to American Heritage and MHQ: The Quarterly Magazine of Military History, he has twice participated in C-Span’s Rating of Presidential Leadership. A Fellow of the Vermont Academy of Arts and Sciences, he is currently Distinguished Scholar in History and Professor at Champlain College and Visiting Professor of History at John Cabot University in Rome. He lives in Burlington, Vermont, with his wife, Nancy Nahra.
