EPILOGUE

Six months later...

Jeannette looked up from the table she was wiping as a blast of chilly air swept into More Coffee. Her heart did its usual little thump, just as it had every time Warren had walked through the doors for the last two and half years. Just as it had as they’d mucked their way through proving their innocence and through the Galbraiths’ trials. Just as it still did, even though everyone who’d picked up a newspaper in the last half a year knew that they were officially a couple now.

“Hello there, Mr. Blue Collar,” she greeted. “Can I get you a drink?”

“No thanks, sweetheart,” he replied with a grin. “I’m warm enough just looking at you.”

She made a face. “You’re not supposed to call me that when I’m at work. Here, I’m Ms. Renfrew.”

He glanced down at his watch. “All right. For two more minutes, you can be Ms. Renfrew, the barista of my dreams. After that...how about you become Mrs. Blue Collar instead?”

And he punctuated the question by setting a small, black velvet box down on the table beside her.
