Louis Menand is Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of English at Harvard. He has also taught at Princeton, Queens College, and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he was Distinguished Professor of English. He is the author of several books, including The Metaphysical Club, which won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 2002. He has been associate editor at The New Republic (1986–87), literary editor at The New Yorker (1993–94), and contributing editor at The New York Review of Books (1994–2001). Since 2001, he has been a staff writer at The New Yorker.
