You’ll Need: large bowl, grill pan (or large skillet), nonstick spray
Prep: 10 minutes • Cook: 10 minutes
1 pound raw extra-lean ground beef (4% fat or less)
¼ cup egg whites (about 2 large eggs’ worth)
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon each salt and black pepper
4 slices reduced-fat cheddar cheese
1. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix all ingredients except cheese.
2. Evenly form into 4 patties, each about ½ inch thick.
3. Bring a grill pan (or large skillet) sprayed with nonstick spray to medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4 minutes per side, until cooked to your preference. (Reduce cook time for rare; increase for well done.)
4. Reduce heat to low. Top patties with cheese. Cook until melted, about 1 minute.
