Simple Resolution 283 in the Senate of the United States

April 17, 1912

Resolved, That the Committee of Commerce, or a subcommittee thereof, is hereby authorized and directed to investigate the causes leading to the wreck of the White Star liner Titanic, with attendant loss of life, so shocking to the civilized world.
