Chapter 4

Teeth

“Tyler!” I yelled. “Where are you?”

“I’m inside,” he called. INSIDE the book! Jack, you have to help me!”

I took a step toward the book. It growled. Then it jumped at me!

You should have seen the teeth on that thing.

I RAN out of Tyler’s room and came in here.

That’s when I thought of you, types Jack.

I read somewhere that you help people when they have TROUBLE with books.

Can you help us?

The door to Jack’s bedroom crashes open. The book is there. Its covers open and shut angrily.

Drool OOZES from several of the pages.

“Get away!” yells Jack.

Jack JUMPS up on his bed.

He hopes the book will not be able to reach him up there.

Then the book opens its covers.

The mouth on the front page opens WIDE.

It keeps opening, wider and wider.

The mouth seems to fill the bedroom.

There is a GROWL and a scream.

Seconds later, Jack disappears.

Only his SHOES are left behind, sitting on the bedroom floor.
