Donovan

imageDeep, blue sea embraces the remarkable shore of Avalon while the sun, in rising, gently caresses its waters. And, in the downtown area, here I am, Donovan Seaton, or at least this is the name I have chosen. I ran away from home at the tender.

imageage of nine years, and I have been fending for myself ever since. I am getting lost in my thoughts as I usually do when suddenly I hear a delicate and feminine voice.

“Excuse me, sir.”

I turn around to find a beautiful girl standing behind me. With her long, brown, and silky hair, her enormous eyes of the same color, and her slim and soft features, I understand she will live in my mind for quite some time. I have never seen her before, so I gather she is a tourist.

“Could you tell me where I can find the souvenir shop, please?” the girl asks.

“Absolutely,” I reply, smiling charmingly, “The shop is actually behind you, Miss.”

“Oh...” she laughs sheepishly as her cheeks turn bright red, “I knew that. I just wanted to test your skills as a tourist guide. Thanks, by the way.”

“Not a problem! I hope that you're enjoying Avalon.”

She gives me an awkward thumbs-up before turning around and strolling toward the shop. I smile as I shake my head, walking through the beautiful town and onto the dock until I stop before the Octopus Prince, my beloved houseboat. It is as blue as the ocean, and while not perfect, it is the closest thing to home to me. I climb the ladder and walk across the deck before entering the boat, reaching my bed and crawling into it, feeling completely exhausted. I kick off my shoes, take off my blue, sweaty t-shirt, and toss it in the laundry basket across the room. Then I close my eyes as I fall asleep. When I wake up, I tell the time and realize that it is four in.

In the afternoon, so I unwillingly drag my numb body out of bed, grab some clean clothes, and head to the shower. As I let the pouring water cleanse me, I step into it and turned the knobs. I quickly clean myself as I felt energized, but as much as I love the water, I cannot allow myself to shift, especially not in such an exposed place, so I break off my shower. I get ready for my awaited day off, intending to make the most of it.
