This sweet and spicy play on traditional hummus pairs and balances the flavor of figs with hot sauce, preferably my signature Chef Blend Hot Sauce, which is available on my website. This flavorful and healthy snack is one of my favorites.
1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
½ cup chopped dried figs, plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons hot sauce
2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon olive oil, for garnish
¼ cup pomegranate seeds, for garnish
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Fresh vegetables, for dipping
In a blender or food processor, combine the chickpeas, figs, hot sauce, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and cumin. Blend until smooth and creamy. You are looking for a thick, dip-like consistency.
Transfer to a dish or bowl and garnish with olive oil, chopped figs, pomegranate seeds, and chopped parsley.
Serve with fresh vegetables.
