I have traveled widely and studied exotic flavor profiles from all over the globe. I am fascinated to learn the spice combinations that capture the tastes and aromas of countries around the world. Because we are a melting pot in the United States, a multitude of cultures are represented in the food and ingredients available to us, and not just in big cities. You will enjoy these flavor profiles from Mexico, Japan, Thailand, and Morocco, to name just a few. To get super creative and trendy, try making up your own global fusion cuisine using the various blends. My favorite global flavor “mash-ups” are Thai and Creole blends.
Yield: a little more than ½ cup
Mexican food is my favorite, so I use the Fiesta Spice Blend all the time. It’s great in vegetarian, beef, turkey, or chicken chili. I use it in salad dressings, on avocados, on chicken, on fish fillets, and on eggs, any style. This blend will bring anything to life.
¼ cup chili powder
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon fresh lime zest
