He parked his car a few houses away so he wouldn’t be seen. He knew from which direction Kate usually arrived home. He’d been following her for a while.
He frowned.
She was in a car and she wasn’t alone.
He smacked his steering wheel with the palm of his hands.
Why were the police with her? He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white.
Maybe the DC is just stopping by to pick something up. He smiled. It won’t be long now – he would finally have his princess. She would be his and his alone. Kate wouldn’t need anyone else once they were reunited.
He watched her building for what seemed like hours, though it wasn’t that long in reality, before Kate and the others came out again.
She had bags with her. He shook with fury. No! No! No! This wouldn’t do. He couldn’t go another night without her.
He waited before starting up his engine and watched as the pair stood on the path chatting before getting into the car. Kate got into the back, while Maggie rode in the front alongside her boss. He ducked down as the car came towards him. Once he was sure there was enough distance, he started his car, turned around, and followed. He wasn’t about to lose Kate now, not when he was so close to having everything he’d ever wanted. He hoped Mr Policeman was more focused on the road ahead than the rear-view mirror.
Wherever you go, my sweet, I will find you. I told you, we’ll be together soon. Very soon.
