Doc leaned back in her chair, what a fucking clusterfuck, she thought. It was bad enough that they didn’t know who the hell was releasing information because as of thirty minutes ago, Shadow received a message from Burns, he gave information only he would know, and it was confirmed. The Furies were pissed off. The government had either lied intentionally, or they had ignored his messages asking for help. Either way, it was one big fuckup.
Shadow was intense, and all the Sisters were worried about him. They saw him like this only twice, and both times, they had to be on standby if he went off the rez and delivered his own justice to people he felt fucked with innocent people. He had a very strong ethic about that, the worse part was, all the Sisters agreed. Nine times out of ten if Shadow went off, then Mav did, and so on. Doc and the twins usually were the ones to cover their asses and make sure they didn’t get arrested.
“And he knows who the fuck we are,” Shadow said slowly with a frown.
“Yeah, but how much?” Mav said quietly, and Shadow grimaced.
“You know what our unit did, and you know it was off the books most of the time. If someone got a hold of our files, we are fucked. There are a lot of people who are still looking for us, and not a damn one of them are friendly.”
Jugs grinned. “So, what you’re saying is, the Taliban doesn’t want us over for dinner?”
Tiny snorted and said, “They probably do, but they probably want us for dinner.”
Doc groaned and then stood and stretched. “You guys go back to our place and wait. I am going to talk to Fling and see what the fuck we are going to do about this.”
Tae-Tae stood and shook her head. “Doc, we know you are our Presi…”
“Don’t fucking say one more word of that sentence. Nothing has changed.”
Mav shook her head and said, “Prez, we know you haven’t actually figured everything out. But we know what the Furies do, and we made a commitment to them. Now, you know we built this business with the idea we would all at one time or another get knocked up, you are just the first.”
“See,” Jugs said. “You are an awesome leader paving the way for all of us.”
“Yeah,” Gypsy said. “If you are a shitty mother, then we will realize that we can’t have children because we are too self-centered and bitchy. But at least we will have one kid to share.”
Doc rolled her eyes. “Really? Did you need to take it that far?”
Gypsy smiled and said, “Hell yeah I did, because you know everyone was thinking it.”
Doc snorted and shook her head. “Go, I will talk to Fling and then come back, then we can decide what we are going to do to help. If it means I sit on the sidelines, well, then I do.”
All her Sisters looked at her closely, and then Mav nodded and stepped toward the door, and the others followed, all except for Shadow who was staring at her like she had three heads.
“What?” Doc snapped, and Shadow’s eyes narrowed.
“Baby?” he hissed quietly at her and Doc’s eyes got wide. FUCK A DUCK! They hadn’t told him because of all of this. How in the fuck could she have forgotten that?
“Ummmmm, well,” Doc stuttered as Shadow stepped closer to her. She saw the fierce look in his eyes, fuck, he was in his killer mode. Thank God Fish wasn’t here right now, that would have been bad. Shadow didn’t do surprises either. He hated them, and if something startled him, you had better hope he didn’t have a weapon.
“Who?” he snapped, and Doc closed her eyes and shook her head.
“It doesn’t matter,” she said, trying to be soothing.
“Tell me,” he growled, and Doc rolled her eyes.
“No,” she replied.
“Doc,” Shadow said in a deep voice.
“We will talk about this later,” she whispered.
Shadow stepped back and stared at her and then said, “Just tell me it wasn’t ‘No Neck,’ please?”
Doc frowned and said, “Who the fuck is that?”
“The dude who you went out on a date with just before North Korea. We dubbed him ‘No Neck,’ ‘cause duh, he looked like his head was just sitting on his shoulders. It was fucking unnatural.”
Doc grinned and shook her head. “No, it was not Tim, he was just a friend, that is it, a friend.”
Shadow snorted. “Yeah, figured you wouldn’t screw that guy, but had to be sure. ‘Cause the only other…”
Doc’s eyes widened, and Shadow’s face turned purple, no shit, Doc stepped closer and whispered, “Breathe.”
Shadow shook his head in denial. “Aww, come on! You’re telling me to calm down?”
Doc looked around and saw the Furies all sitting at a different table, talking to each other quietly, but she noticed that Fling and Ridge were standing by the door waiting. Shit, they told her they called the Ops to have them join for a pow wow. She didn’t know why, but she did know that they found out something else. Doc had already prepared herself. But damn, it still sucked.
However, shit went south when the door opened and not only did Creed, Ridge, and Shady walk in, but they were followed by Fork and Fish. She felt Shadow freeze at her back, and she looked over her shoulder in just enough time to see Shadow’s face become deadly. He roared, and Doc tried to grab him, but he was too fast. Well, shit, she thought and hit her forehead with her hand, this was so not going to go well.
When Fish heard they had made it in time to go to the meeting, he, of course, announced he was going to go as their legal rep. Not that they needed one, but it was the only thing he could come up with to tag along. Creed and Fork both stared at him intently before agreeing. He took a deep breath and then went to change his clothes quickly. He had thirty minutes to get to the Furies’ clubhouse.
She was going to be there, and Fish had enough time to figure out how the fuck he was going to handle it. He moved to his room, but before he got there, he heard.
“Dad!” Harmony yelled, and he turned and his eyebrows raised. Well shit, she was really getting big. As she moved toward him, he wanted to laugh because it didn’t matter if she was pregnant or not, his daughter wore only Harley clothes. Although if he wasn’t mistaken, she was now wearing the men’s tank top. It swallowed her, which reminded him of when she was little and would steal his shirts. He grinned and held out his arms as his baby girl walked right into his hug.
“I missed you,” she said softly and sighed. “Finally got you out here and then you take off for a ride.”
He laughed and said, “Well, I am back, and I don’t intend on leaving again for a while.”
Harmony pulled back and stared up at him. “Why?”
“Why, what?” he said, confused. What the hell was she talking about?
“Did you come back just so you could sit at that chick’s side and take care of her. ‘Cause you know Jack-Jack and Slick have announced that as soon as she wakes up, they are claiming her,” Harmony said and then growled. “Unfortunately, that means we need to accept the rest of those bitches, but we all think if we out bitch them, it won’t be a problem.”
Fish shook his head and said, “Harmony, you girls are gonna need to let that shit go. You and I know that if there is dissension in the club, then it will make everyone tense. We don’t need much more of that here.”
Harmony pursed her lips and looked like she was thinking, and then she said, “Just like Shady told Creed. They are an awesome stress relief.”
Fish chuckled. “Well, I need to change and get back, there is a meeting. I will come find you when it’s all done, okay?”
Harmony sighed loudly. “Yeah, meet us in the big room, we are making dinner tonight, it is special.”
Fish nodded and then kissed his daughter on the forehead. “I will be there.”
As he walked into his room, he smiled a little, special, that could mean anything for this club, but he was thinking, someone else was gonna be a daddy. Fuck, the way they were procreating around here; soon the Ops were going to have a daycare on-site. He didn’t give a shit, as long as his grandchild was safe, then they were all good. Shit, granddad, he was chasing around some young chick, and he was gonna be a granddad. Fish paused and then looked around his room. He had already made his choice, but it still was a little strange. Oh well, she didn’t have kids, maybe she would like to be a grandma.
Well, shit, she is thirty-something, he highly doubted being a grandma that early would be appealing. Fish paused just before hitting the big room and looked at his feet. Maybe he was just too old and had too much going on to deal with this shit about being with a younger woman. Maybe he needed to find someone his own age. Goddammit, he had this sorted until the reality of the situation just fucked everything up.
With a sigh, he moved forward into the room where most of the Ops and their women were gathered and waiting. Creed was talking to them and explained what was happening.
“Somehow, we are tied to this whole fucking mess. Fling thinks we know this person they are looking for,” Creed said.
“How’s that?” Slider asked, and the rest of the men grumbled.
“Dani,” Creed said, making eye contact with Slick and Jack-Jack as their mouths tightened.
“They know who did that?” Slick gritted out, and Fish rubbed a hand across his neck. Too much shit was tying together and bringing dark days to both clubs. Something was going to have to give.
He knew the Furies did some covert shit, hell, all of them respected what they did. They had all served their country. Sometimes when soldiers got out, they lost their way, they couldn’t get back into their lives, they saw too much nasty shit. Then there were those who were bitter with the normal population, the ones who scoffed at what the military did. The citizens who felt too much money was spent on the military, even though more than half of the families needed to apply for state assistance because they were paid like fucking shit, and still, these men and women put their lives on the line every fucking day in order to protect our citizens. Yeah, most of the people serving were pissed off about one thing or another, then to get out and be told you have no marketable skill, yeah. Especially since putting on a resume that you can take apart a pistol and put it back together in one minute, doesn’t qualify as experience.
So, the veterans end up homeless, or they find each other and band together, as the Ops and Furies did. But this shit going down? It was making them all nervous. Shady’s mom was a class A cunt and needed put down like the rabid bitch she was. Fish couldn’t imagine how the fuck she could be involved with the Furies shit; it didn’t make a lot of sense to him, so it was a good thing he was going to the meeting. Maybe he’d be able to help find some answers, and if needed, Fish could call in some favors.
“Yeah, not only do they know who did it, they know where that cunt got the information about Dani and us. Seems the Furies really want us to take down Shay’s mom so we can find out who the fuck gave her the information,” Creed said.
Fish saw Harmony raise her hand and his eyes narrowed. “Honey, you know we are good on getting information out of her. The Lady Riders have already procured a shed to be delivered tomorrow; we are putting it next to the back door of the clubhouse.”
“Yeah,” Shady said and looked around at her friends until her eyes finally landed on her daughter, Jas, who was sitting in the back with Sunshine. “We already have our tools ready for that bitch.”
Creed looked at the women grimly and then sighed. “Come on, let’s go have the conversation with the Furies, get a plan together.”
They all moved to the back door, and Fish put his hand on Shady’s waist to help her. The others kinda chuckled, and Shady said, “You are the only one I would let help me.”
“Why is that?” Fish grinned.
“‘Cause I know you won’t say shit about how round my stomach is. These bastards keep making a big deal out of how I can’t see my feet right now,” Shady grumbled, and Fish grinned.
“Not real smart, are they?”
Shady snorted and then said, “Yeah, we have a room designated as the dumbass room for those who need to sleep elsewhere.”
Fish laughed loudly and said, “Has it been used?”
“Hell yeah,” Shady snorted before moving on. He had just walked inside the door to the Furies’ clubhouse when he heard a roar of anger, and suddenly he was tackled from the side before he could even see who the hell jumped him.
