Solo Career - Part 1

  1. In 2002 Justin released his debut album Justified, with Like I Love You as the lead single.
  2. By May 2003, the album had gone double platinum!
  3. The second single to be released from Justified was Cry Me a River which debuted at number 2 in the UK singles chart.
  4. The Justified tour kicked off with performances in the UK in May 2003 - and ended in Brisbane over a year later in June 2004!
  5. From the 4th of June to the 2nd of September 2003, Justin toured North America with Christina Aguilera in the Justified and Stripped tour. Stripped was Christina’s fourth studio album.
  6. At just 22 years old, Justin felt that he had lost his voice in terms of knowing what and how he wanted to sing. He said Justified had been a long time in the making and he was not yet ready for the challenge of re-creating its success.
  7. In 2006 (and after a two year hiatus) Justin again joined forces with producer Timbaland to release his second studio album FutureSex/LoveSounds.
  8. One night, Danja (a record producer who has worked with Britney Spears and Nelly Furtado) was playing chords on the guitar which caught Justin’s attention. He started to hum along whilst Timbaland added in drums. An hour later and with no lyrics on paper, Justin recorded what would become What Goes Around.
  9. SexyBack was the lead single for the second album and was also Justin’s first UK number one.
  10. The first three singles to be released from FutureSex/LoveSounds peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. These were SexyBack, My Love and What Goes Around... Comes Around
