Solo Career - Part 2
- In January 2007, Justin embarked on the FutureSex/LoveShow tour playing at a total of 119 venues across the globe.
- FutureSex/LoveSounds was Justin’s first number one US album as a solo artist and has sold over four million copies to date.
- The 20/20 Experience released in 2013 is Justin’s third studio album.
- He approached it as a unique project, saying that in writing music for the release there was no rules or end-goal in mind - this suggested to fans that they would hear a very real and true JT sound on the new album.
- The lead single - Suit and Tie features Jay-Z and was released on the 15th of January 2013 to critical acclaim. One commentator called it a “sound-redefining, statement-making, globe-conquering comeback single”.
- Another single release - Mirrors - was inspired by wife, Jessica Biel. Although her name isn’t mentioned, it is a love song to someone that you feel is your true other half.
- In America alone, The 20/20 Experience sold almost a million copies in its first week of release.
- Despite proving widely popular however, some reviewers have criticised the album saying that the tracks are ‘long and bloated’ and the lyrics amateurish. Most fans would of course disagree!
- The 20/20 Experience is in fact a two part release - the first hitting the shelves at the start of 2013, with the second to follow towards the end of the year.
- JT and Jay-Z wowed viewers at the 55th Grammy Awards, where they performed Suit & Tie together. Justin started off from the stage, and Jay-Z then joined him from the audience!
