It is hard not to make a golden arches joke here. This recipe nicely replicates a famous hot apple pie and is a great specialty desert.

Shell:
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons cold butter
1/4 cup ice water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar

2 cups peeled apples
1/2 cup apple cider
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons flour
Instructions:
1.
Chop apples into half inch squares.
2.
Combine the flour, salt, and sugar using a mixer or food processor.
3.
Cut butter into chunks and mix in, then drizzle in ice water, mix together until dough barely holds together.
4.
Flour a cutting board and form 6 inch circles from the dough.
5.
Wrap each circle in plastic wrap and refrigerate for half an hour.
6.
While the circles refrigerate warm a pan to medium heat.
7.
Add apples, cider, zest, juice, and salt; cook the mixture until
it starts to bubble.

10.
Cut the new circles in half and spoon in about one third cup of filling.
11.
Fold the dough over the filling and close it using the prongs of a fork.
12.

Bake using your Philips at 320 degrees for 20 minutes, turning half way through.
