Dump Cake

There are about a million ways to make this cake. At a church dinner on the ground, if ten women brought a dump cake, there were ten different dump cakes with different fruits and recipes. This is just one I have always liked.

1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling

1 (21-ounce) can crushed pineapple

1 cup flaked coconut

1 (18.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix

1 cup chopped pecans

1 stick butter

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Dump the cherry pie filling into a 13 x 9-inch glass baking dish and spread it out to form the first layer. Dump in the pineapple to form the second layer. Sprinkle on the coconut layer. Sift the cake mix over the entire mixture. Sprinkle the nuts as the top layer and dot the entire cake with butter. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream, chilled whipped cream, or thawed frozen whipped topping.
