Pam’s Browned-Butter Icing
Icing can turn a lowly breakfast loaf into a glorious dessert, and this icing from Pam Holland has done that very thing on many occasions at Spotland Productions, which she and her husband, Ben, own and operate. Her homemade goodies are always waiting for clients, friends, and even delivery folks who stop by. This icing is amazing, and in Pam’s words, “the easiest thing in the world.”
1 stick unsalted butter
1 pound powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 to 6 tablespoons milk
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Allow the butter to brown, being very watchful because it can go from nicely browned to burned black in a second. remove the butter from the heat and beat in the sugar, vanilla, and milk by hand, adjusting the liquid as needed based on the thickness or creaminess desired.
