I was driving. Mum and Dad would have been so proud. The sun was shining, and the roof was down. I’d bought a Nissan roadster, a two door, two-seater sports car in silver with its sloping fastback style arched roof line and unique brushed aluminium door handles. I felt like a rock star driving it. It was nowhere near as flash as Barkley’s new car, but it was mine, and I felt proud as punch driving around.
The UK weather is unpredictable, but the sun was beating down on us and the mixture of the breeze and sun was a perfect combination to stop us from overheating. Barkley sat his sunglasses on top of his head and took a selfie of us. Quickly glancing at the camera, I smiled, then put my eyes straight back onto the road ahead.
Barkley showed me the photo on his phone and we both laughed. “Nice one” he said, then proceeded to post it to his social media.
Without warning, without cause the road ahead of me started to fade out, pixel by pixel and before I knew it Barkley, my car, everything around me had gone within seconds. I was in the neutral zone.
Metatron stood in front of me.
“Aaron, there has been a shift in reality, they are coming for you”.
