A-SPOT The anterior fornix spot, an erogenous zone located above the G-spot, near the cervix.

ANUS The opening to the rectum, located between the buttocks.

AREOLA The colored ring around the nipple.

CLITORIS The organ primarily responsible for female orgasm. Only a small portion of the clitoris is visible—most of it exists internally.

FORESKIN Loose skin that protects the head of a man’s penis. The foreskin itself is quite sensitive for many men.

FRENULUM A sensitive spot just below the head of the penis, which faces away from the body when the penis is erect.

G-SPOT The Grafenberg spot, an erogenous zone located on the front wall of the vagina.

HEAD (GLANS) The tip of the penis. Also slang for oral sex.

HOOD The piece of skin that protects the clitoris. It is quite sensitive in and of itself for many women.

LABIA The vaginal lips, consisting of the outer lips (labia majora)—which form the outer limits of the female genitalia—and the inner lips (labia minora), which run from the clitoral hood to below the vaginal opening.

MOUND Fleshy spot right above a woman’s genital area.

PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES The muscles connecting and supporting most of the sexual organs, bladder, anus, etc.

PENIS The male sexual organ.

PERINEUM The area between the sexual organs and the anus.

PROSTATE The gland responsible for some of the fluid in male ejaculate. Can be a source of sexual pleasure.

PUBOCOCCYGEUS (PC) MUSCLE The muscle exercised in Kegels, found in both genders (see General Glossary).

RECTUM The passage just inside the anus.

SCROTUM The external pouch that contains a man’s testicles.

SHAFT The main body of the penis, exclusive of the head. In general, term is used only to refer to the erect organ.

TESTICLES The glands that produce sperm; often called “balls.”

VAGINA Technically, the vaginal canal. The term “vagina” is often incorrectly used to refer to all of a woman’s sexual organs.

VAGINAL CANAL Passage connecting the vaginal opening to the uterus.

VULVA The entire external female genital area. The term “vagina” is often mistakenly used as a synonym.
