Preface

E xperience the Mystery of Tarot evolved from my experience of more than two decades reading tarot and practicing ritual and ceremony. When I was twenty years old, after surviving cancer, I turned to esoteric knowledge to explore alternative energy, healing practices, and mythic arts. I was fortunate to spend a year in deep study of Wicca and tarot with two Pagan teachers, both high priestesses of their coven. Around that time I received my first deck of cards, the Medicine Cards, which introduced me to the method of divination using cards. Soon after, from my father I received my first tarot deck, the Waite-Smith deck. Later, I was gifted the Aleister Crowley Thoth deck and have used that for the last fifteen years, along with several other decks, including The Wild Unknown, The Secret Dakini Oracle, Mana Cards, and the Numinous Tarot. For many years, I mainly read for myself, friends and family and occasionally read for money while traveling throughout India and Asia.

Following my training in earth-based spirituality, my passion for ceremony was fueled by extensive study with impeccable masters of Tibetan Buddhist and Yogic lineages. I lived in India for seven years immersed in a land of ceremonial activity, and six years on the Big Island of Hawai’i where I met my Hawaiian Kumu (teacher) who is also a Kahuna Ali’i (Master High Priestess). With the opportunity to receive such powerful teachings in relation to my work on earth alongside my trusty cards, I cross-referenced the wisdom of the tarot with the embodiment of ceremony. As I continued to learn about the arts of creating ceremony with the natural world around me, I wove these two arts together as a method for how to embody and use the tarot as a soulful and wholehearted practice. As my work developed, with the help of my guides and helpers, I found myself suggesting ways for my clients to not only assess the situation at hand as presented by the cards, but how to work with it in a way that could help them perhaps let go and dissolve or simply accept difficult situations, come to terms with changes happening on their path, and embrace more joy and love in their lives. This work empowers readers and students of tarot to become more embodied in their earth journey using the mystery of tarot as a guide along the way.
