Achillea millefolium
Yarrow is a wildflower and a member of the sunflower family. It is closely related to chamomile and is seen as a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture. The genus name for yarrow, achillea, is derived from the mythical Greek character, Achilles, who supposedly carried it with his army to treat battle wounds. Its leaves, intricately woven and fern-like in appearance, have antiseptic properties and, when layered over a wound, will help clot the blood and prevent infection.
