Fat from sources like fish, olive oil and nuts are good fats as they are packed with essential fatty acids like Omega 3. In fact, studies at Harvard have revealed that these fats actually help you burn the bad fats in your body.
With healthy fats, you have the advantage of calories. You need to aim to get about 20% of your overall calorie requirement from these sources. They include avocados, nuts, salmon and even some supplements that can be recommended to you by an expert.
Stay away from solid fats like shortening and meat fat., These fats are not really valuable in terms of nutrition and can make up for the bad fats that are stored in your body.
In simple terms, these are the fats that, well, make you fat! So, remember that low fat is not the only choice that you have when it comes to food consumption. Good fats are a good choice.
