How was Rhino Records named?

A. The alliteration—it just sounded good.

B. Inspired by Eugene Ionesco’s play Rhinoceros, which dealt with the issue of nonconformity. Because we considered ourselves nonconformists, we called the company Rhino.

C. One of Harold’s favorite rock groups was England’s Bonzo Dog Band. The label name was inspired by the number of references to rhinos in their songs.

D. The R stands for Richard. The H stands for Harold. When Harold wrote out the abbreviation for incorporated, INC, the “c” was nearly closed, and looked like an “O,” spelling the word “RHINO.”
