Chapter Five

“Why the delay?”

“Her security has been hyped up to two bodyguards at all times, which means she’s never alone when she’s off the Brunelli estate.”

“Do you think they know something?”

“Doubtful.”

“But possible.”

“Only if someone in Moscow has loose lips.”

“What are you suggesting?”

“That if they do suspect anything, that information didn’t come from my end.”

“It didn’t come from here either.”

“Hm.”

“I don’t like your implication.”

“And I don’t like sudden changes to a target’s routine.”

“Do you want to call it off?”

“No, because I’m working around those changes.”

“Then why bother mentioning them?”

“Because you need to know this is no longer the routine killing you said it was.”

“Are you saying you want more money?”

“I’m saying the hunt has just become way more interesting.”

“Either get the job done by the end of the week, or I’ll pass it, and the payment, on to someone else.”

“I don’t appreciate being threatened.”

“And I don’t appreciate incompetence. Get the fucking job done, or once she’s been eliminated, I’ll turn my attention to you. Understand?”

“Understood.”
