With a bit of imagination, somewhere in the letter R can be seen the human head (its pictographic source), perhaps in profile. R is the letter of radiance, while the head is the seat of power and the source of light. When we say someone is aglow, we mean they glow from the face. Perhaps there is some connection to Ra, the Egyptian sun-god.
