Dearly Beloved

“I met a man the other day who has married over a hundred women,” Holmes announced to me one day.

“Well that’s clearly entirely inappropriate!” I replied. “After a certain number of divorces, surely one must realize that one is not the marrying kind.”

“Oh, but on the contrary, my dear Watson, the man has never divorced, and all the women are quite happy.”

What perfectly logical explanation was Holmes able to offer for this? The man was not, I might add, a polygamist.
