Keeping Up With The Hudsons

“I discovered a rather remarkable thing about Mrs. Hudson’s family the other day,” Holmes observed.

“Her mother had a sixth finger?” I suggested.

“No, no, I’ve known about that for years,” he replied. “I’m referring to the curious arrangement of her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hudson’s sister has four children, with a three-year age gap between each child and the next. Moreover, the oldest child is currently two-thirds of her mother’s age, which is twice what the youngest child’s age was last year.”

“Well isn’t that… something,” I replied, somewhat disinterestedly.

“Indeed it is,” said Holmes, failing, perhaps deliberately so, to note my lack of enthusiasm. “But tell me, Watson, from this information, can you deduce the age of Mrs. Hudson’s sister?”
