About The Author
Bart Chilton has more than twety-five years of government experience. His career includes service in the US House of Representatives, the US Senate, the Executive Branch, and at two independent agencies. In 2007, he was nominated to the CFTC by President Bush and confirmed by the US Senate. In 2009, he was nominated again by President Obama and reconfirmed. During his service at the CFTC, Commissioner Chilton has been an advocate for consumers and businesses alike. In 2008, he began calling for financial reform of unregulated “dark markets” and limits on excessive speculation, including traders he calls “massive passives.” Since 2010, he has sought greater accountability and oversight of high-frequency traders, whom he has termed “cheetah traders” due to their exceptional speed. He is a frequently quoted opinion leader, who appears regularly on financial and business television programs in the United States and abroad.
