Author’s Notes

A few years ago I was being interviewed on an online radio show about my first novel, When Rains Fall. The main characters from that novel were Candace Johnson and Detective Darnell Jackson. Candace owned and operated the Crown of Beauty Salon. Two of the salon employees, Beulah Samuels and Tangerine “Tangie” Nelson were minor supporting characters.

During this particular interview, the host asked me about Tangie. The host really related to Tangie’s experience as a single mother and her in-your face attitude and sense of humor. I’m an author who listens to her readers and this question has stuck with me for some time. What happened to Tangie? What’s her story?

In my Reed Family Series, which is also a part of the Victory Gospel Church Family, I have given readers a minor peek inside the lives of the main characters from the Victory Gospel Series, When Rain Falls, When Memories Fade and When Perfection Fails.

When I started expanding the Victory Gospel Church Family with the Victory Gospel Shorts, I thought what a great opportunity to revisit characters from the previous books and provide interested readers more background into a minor character.

At the time of this short story’s publication, it will have been eight years since When Rain Falls was published. Those eight years are reflected in the timeline of When Love Finds Me. I hope and pray you enjoy meeting or revisiting these characters, Tangie, Candace and Beulah.

The purpose behind the Victory Gospel Shorts is to share the lives of women who have in many ways given up on love. God in His awesomeness shows us He has more in store for us than we could ever imagine.
