Planting a strawberry pot is a great way to grow lots of different herbs in a small space. You can pick the herbs whenever you need some fresh flavors to add to your favorite dishes. Try to choose herbs that you enjoy tasting and smelling, but avoid planting mint because this has a habit of taking over and so is best given a pot of its own.
You will need
Step 1
Put a layer of large gravel or stones in the base of the strawberry pot. Add some of the potting mix until it is nearly level with the first holes in the pot.
Carefully take the first herbs out of their pots and then slip them into the holes from the outside in. Add more potting mix around the roots of the herbs and keep filling with potting mix until the next planting holes are reached. Plant more herbs in the same way.
Step 2
Finish off by planting the chives in the large opening at the top of the pot, firming in the potting mix around the plant. Make sure that the chive plant is sitting straight because it is the centerpiece of the display. Water the strawberry pot thoroughly but gently, so that you don’t wash potting mix out of the holes. Remember to use the rose attachment on the watering can. If any potting mix washes out of the holes, just push it back in.
Step 3
Use a pen to write the name of each herb on the end of the sticks. This will help you to remember the names of the herbs later. Push each stick into the hole next to the plant. Place the pot somewhere sunny and turn it regularly so that all of the herbs get enough sun.
