Give your outdoor spaces a little TLC.
ROUTINE CARE
1. Sweep floors with an outdoor push broom.
2. Dust windowsills, doorframes, and ceiling fan blades using a counter (aka bench) brush.
SEASONAL MAINTENANCE
1. Sweep away cobwebs and debris with a corn broom.
2. Wash down walls with diluted all-purpose cleaner and a large polyester sponge.
3. Scrub flooring with a long-handled deck brush and all-purpose cleaner mixed with hot water.
4. Scrub away any mildew from surfaces with 1 cup oxygen bleach per gallon of water (wear gloves and goggles).
5. Clean porch screens with all-purpose cleaner (avoid one with ammonia if you have aluminum screens) and a scrub brush. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose; allow to air-dry.
6. Repaint floors (and steps) as needed. First sand existing paint, sweep away debris, and clean with diluted all-purpose cleaner; then rinse, and wait until dry before applying paint.
