Chapter Four

INT. LIBRARY – MORNING – DREAMLIKE QUALITY

Cam sits at a heavy oak desk staring at his computer screen. His forehead is creased in concentration. Or maybe it’s frustration. He types something. Stops. Types again. Stops.

CAM

(sighs)

This shouldn’t be so hard. Car chase.

Gun fight. Save innocent people. Repeat.

He stretches his neck from side to side. Cracks the knuckles on his left hand. Stares some more at the computer.

CAM

You can do this.

He can’t. His fingers remain frozen on the keyboard. He turns his head to look out the paned window behind him, as if something has caught his attention out of the corner of his eye.

Camera cuts to outside the window where Reese is walking by. The sky is blue, flowers bloom. Her long hair is blowing in a gentle breeze. Her lips are glossy and the corners of her mouth lift. A secret smile just for him. She wears a ruffled white, off-the-shoulder shirt.

Camera pulls back.

CAM

(swivels in the chair to watch Reese and whispers)

Beautiful.

Reese stops walking, looks through the window at Cam. She gives him a sultry look then glances left and then right. Returning to gaze at him, she slowly pulls down one side of her blouse to reveal the smooth, round—

CAM

(jerks awake and falls out of the chair, hitting his chin on the desk)

Ow, damn it.

He picks himself up off the floor and rubs a hand across his forehead, trying to wipe away the daydream. The fact that his thoughts are straying into dangerous territory more and more often is…disorienting to say the least.
