Claire watched as the locksmith removed the two padlocks on the large, industrial gates at the entrance to the site. He gave her two sets of keys to the new locks.

As they walked towards the cabin that was the site office, Claire again felt how this place was unfinished business. And now it was eerily quiet, just as it had been when a wide-shouldered man with a wispy grey beard had asked Claire where to find Harry Stone.

‘I hope you don’t keep anything valuable in there,’ the locksmith said.

‘No, just a few bills to pay, plans, nothing else,’ Claire replied.

‘These places are too easy to get into, doesn’t matter how many locks on the door, somebody with a large axe can easily smash their way in.’

The lock in the door was quickly drilled out and again the locksmith gave Claire two sets of keys to the new lock. Now satisfied with the new security on the vacant site, Claire cleared all drawings and three files that James had left and put them in the boot of her car.

The whole site was now hers to control, and she was not going to let James smear her dream of once again living in Arrow Hall. The punch-up, with a flash of a blade that sent James to intensive care, was only delaying the big fight looming when she finally got rid of him.
