Day 253

He gave five talents to the first, two to the next, and one to the last—each according to his ability.—Matthew 25:15

Brainy Tip: What we choose to think about impacts how we use our time.

Our thoughts can either limit us to what we believe we can do or free us to develop abilities well beyond our expectations or the expectations of others. When we choose a mindset that extends our abilities rather than limits them, we will experience greater intellectual satisfaction, emotional control, and mental and physical health.

But nothing worthwhile happens in an instant. We can turn dreams into realities, but first we have to realize that it takes longer than the average one-second lifespan of a Twitter post to make a change. The technological age has brought with it a desire to see things, including change and success, as instantaneous. Yet there is no quick fix to success in school, work, and life. Trying to make things happen fast and then giving up when they do not happen at the speed you have become accustomed to is unhealthy. It can cause you anguish and put your brain and body into toxic stress, keeping you stuck in a toxic cycle—a cycle you can end any time you choose to end it.

We have been given “talents,” and they take time to develop. We have something unique and wonderful to give to the world. We choose what we do with what we have been given. And we will be held responsible for how we use it.
