It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved.—Psalm 127:2
Brainy Tip: Impossible expectations can impede our ability to think clearly and succeed.
Toxic thoughts and chaotic, haphazard thinking come in many guises. On the surface, a thought such as I must do well or I must finish this in the next thirty minutes seems all right, but when you look at it closely and analyze the feelings it generates, you will see how the thought may not be serving you well at the point you are at. Demanding unrealistic performance from yourself and others, for instance, puts your mind and body into toxic stress mode, which has a negative effect on your brain and body health. This type of pressure can also lead to haphazard, distracted thinking, which certainly doesn’t help matters!
