“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” No other commandment is greater than these.—Mark 12:31
Brainy Tip: Watch what you say when you are alone.
Become intentionally mindful about what you say, not only when you are with other people but also when you are by yourself. When you do this, the internal networks of your brain fire up and your inner peace and mental health will grow. Start replacing negative statements with positive ones, thinking about the kind of change you want to see in your life.
You might want to reconceptualize your self-talk. Remind yourself that you are a work in progress and that’s totally fine. Point yourself in the direction of achievable growth—what is realistic for you? What can you do with where you are in life? Perhaps tell yourself something like, “Every moment I’m making an effort to be more conscious about how I manage my time.”
Acknowledge the fact that you are evolving and that you can choose to create a better future for yourself. It is important to remember that you cannot love others or truly show them grace if you do not love yourself or show yourself grace.
