Day 304

The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.—Isaiah 58:11

Brainy Tip: True happiness comes from internal satisfaction.

As a culture, we have become so accustomed to our current, global system of “more, more, more” and “now, now, now” that it has become a part of our nonconscious minds. When was the last time you thought about where your food came from? Or who made your clothes? Or if you really need the latest smartphone and why? Or what exactly you are working for? Or why you chose your job? Or if you feel spiritually fulfilled? Or why you are dating that person? How often do you stop to smell the roses and think about the beauty you see in a single flower? When was the last time you felt satisfied with where you are in life and with what you have?

Happiness is not measured by how many things you have or how fabulous your life looks on social media but by how satisfied you are with your life and where your life is headed, even when times are challenging. This kind of satisfaction, which cannot be bought at the store or online, is the foundation of your mental and physical wellbeing—it is based in God’s love and it will never fail. It will give you the strength to keep on keeping on!
