Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually.—1 Chronicles 16:11
Brainy Tip: Research on the regulatory aspect of the human genome, the 97 percent of who we are, hints at the power of the thought life to cause changes in our brains and bodies.
More than 97 percent of our genome is fulfilling vital functions in a regulatory manner. It specifically controls the switching on and off of genes. It is a language, operating like a genetic switch that controls the other 3 percent. Our DNA is essentially designed to react to the language of our thoughts and resultant words as well as the biological signals.
We are made in the image of a powerful God who brought the earth into existence with his words, and we have this power of words and language invested in us. The first task given to humanity was to name the animals, after all!
As we seek after the Lord, we strengthen our ability to direct the regulatory part of our genome correctly, because we learn to build the correct love language into our brains and bodies down to the level of our DNA.
