Day 321

Bear with one another in love; be humble, meek, and patient in every way with one another. Make every effort to guard the unity that the spirit gives, with your lives bound together in peace.—Ephesians 4:2–3

Brainy Tip: If we want to change our relationships we need to change our thinking.

Often in a relationship, when two people have reacted in certain ways and have built toxic thoughts, all new communication is viewed through the filter of the previous painful interactions, and every future conversation is shaped by the experience of the previous encounter. That’s why we need to deal with these toxic patterns in our relationships so we can truly be a community that fosters healthy, life-giving relationships, whether we are talking about a spouse, a friend, or merely a colleague at school or work.

If we do not change our thinking, we cannot change our relationships. But when we work together as God intended, we gain the benefit of the full range of his wisdom and insight, which allows us to enjoy the party, and life in general, to the fullest.
