In the fall of 2018, as the seventh anniversary of Occupy Wall Street approached, a new mass mobilization was being organized with a new political target in mind. Kalle Lasn and his team at Adbusters put out another call to their now huge international listserv. It was time, they said, to occupy Silicon Valley.

They posted their memes for the battle.

The first: on a pink background, a ballerina dancing on a cracked iPhone, the screen of which screen displays a Facebook “like” icon. The accompanying text reads,

The second: a Nazi flag, red, with a white circle in the middle, and inside that, a black swastika formed from four Facebook “f” logos.

The third: on a blue background, a cackling “happy face” emoji. And its message?
